Tackling knife crime

31st May 2017

There has been a worrying increase in knife crime in South West London recently. Over the past few months we have seen several incidents shake the communities that we live and work in.  This month within a period of 16 days 11 Londoners were stabbed to death and official statistics released in April showed a 20% increase in the rate of knife attacks in the capital.  We are working hard with young people to address the fear and anger on the streets and to challenge the feeling that it is necessary to carry a knife. This was recognised recently when we were invited, along with four other local youth projects, to meet with Cressida Dick, the Met Police Commissioner to discuss the best ways to tackle knife crime. You can read a report on the discussion here.

We believe in young people – and hope that you do too!
