Supporting Young Adults

Our support of young people doesn’t end when they turn 18!

We understand the complexities of the transition into adulthood and independence, and are very aware that for some this can be overwhelming. Many young people don’t have anywhere to turn to learn the new knowledge and skills that are suddenly required.

The relational nature of our approach means we have always included ‘young adults’ in our youth work offer but in the last year we have started to give this area of our work more direction and focus and have committed more resources to our Young Adults Project.

We journey alongside young people aged between 16-22, aiming to inspire them towards an independent adult life. The needs of individual young people are diverse, so the project targets support to the individual within the following areas:

  • Education and Employment
  • Money/ budgeting
  • Housing
  • Life skills
  • Health (Physical and Mental)

The program works mainly through a one-to-one support/mentoring model, with relevant group work addressing specific areas. These are spaces where a young person can gain the tools needed to improve their skills and knowledge, including money management courses, cooking and self-care courses, mental health support and more.

We are excited about the possibilities this project brings to inspire sustainable positive change in the lives of young people as they journey towards independence.
