Getting to know Kerry

29th June 2015

We love our team! People are vitally important to everything that happens at e:merge and we are massively proud of all our staff. Here is your chance to learn a little bit more about the people who make e:merge so great.

Name: Kerry Astin
Age: 34
Role: South West London Director

Where are you from?
Born in Bath but grew up in Bradford, lived in London for 11 years

How long have you worked at e:merge?
Since April 2015, at FAST for 4 years

What are your hobbies?
Knitting, crochet, generally creativity, stomping around the countryside, travelling, going to gigs and festivals

Favourite Food: Mum’s Sunday Roast or Bradford Curry
Favourite Song: Fools Gold by The Stone Roses
Favourite Film: Elizabeth Town

Describe a typical working day:
Every day is different…hanging out with young people, planning and dreaming and praying with team, strategising, fundraising, doing admin, networking, discovering new opportunities for young people, listening, spending time in the community and whatever else the day might throw at me. We are beginning a lot of work here so there is a lot of time spent setting things up and working out how best to do things.

What is the best thing about working at e:merge?
It’s great to be part of a bigger team/work. FAST has been tough to get off the ground and it’s not been easy to find others that think and dream the same things for young people and so can provide encouragement, support and teaching. I love the holistic approach – it’s about transforming the whole of a young person and their life, not just one bit, and that makes all the difference.

What is your proudest moment at e:merge?
Seeing the young person I mentor discover her love for food and catering and get a job in this field.

We believe in young people – and hope that you do too!

Will you join us in inspiring change?
