Exploring Labyrinths at our Culture Club!
As part of the Bradford City of Culture year, we have started a project looking at ‘labyrinths’ and have been exploring what labyrinths are, making labyrinths out of different materials and even visiting some!
We’ve been to see a number of different labyrinths, both indoors and outdoors. One such trip was to Mill Hill Chapel, in Leeds. They have a labyrinth painted on the floor of the hall where we spent the afternoon exploring and walking the pathway in creative ways. Young people enjoyed the slow pace and the peaceful atmosphere. We love that we can give these new experiences to young people and broaden their horizons.
Our ‘Culture Club’ group meets weekly and and we have enjoyed having visiting guests come and talk to us about labyrinths and teach us new skills to be able to create labyrinths out of different materials.
Some of our young people will be sharing and showcasing some of the skills and knowledge they have learnt about labyrinths, when the ‘Beacon’ (part of the Bradford City of Culture year) comes to Bowling Park in May.
