Boys’ Well-being Sessions

Thanks to some funding we received as part of Men’s Mental Health Week, we had two fantastic Boys’ Wellbeing days focusing on mental and physical health, in fun and engaging ways. From teamwork challenges to mindfulness activities, it was brilliant to see everyone connecting and learning; and we were able to use the sessions to remind boys how important it is to talk about feelings and pressures, and take care of mind and body. We hope we can keep these important conversations going.  What an amazing group of boys we have!

Gardening Fun!

There is something very therapeutic about gardening – and young people seem to love it!  It’s been inspiring to see our young people enjoying the whole process of planting seeds, tending to them and watching them grow.

Our BD4 social action group continue to tend to their orchard in Holme Wood, which is thriving.

Our Holmewood 4 O’Clock club have been busy planting strawberries, tomatoes, broad beans and have even begun to create a sensory garden.

Our Social Action Group and Girls’ Group in East Bowling have been busy making wooden planters, varnishing them and then enjoying growing and learning to look after strawberry plants.

Gardening offers young people the perfect combination of positive activity, linked to learning new skills, having fun and hopefully enjoying the fruits of their labour at some point!

Self-Defence Skills

Our Holme Wood girls’ group spent two of their sessions learning some ‘self-defence’ skills.  What a brilliant opportunity it was for them – learning important skills and keeping fit at the same time.
