At e:merge all our activities and projects are about developing young people to realise their potential. Through all our sessions we focus on 9 areas of their lives that we know if we can have an impact will be transformational for them.
Poverty of quality relationships and the ability to interact in social settings is something we find many of our young people struggle with. Without the ability to build peer friendships, interact with adults or communicate effectively, we see many fighting for attention through negative behaviours or isolating themselves. We tackle this by putting a lot of value on relationships. Firstly, between the worker and the young person. Secondly, by creating healthy community and opportunities for safe social interactions. Over the years it has been amazing to see young people find belonging and acceptance through the communities of young people that have been created. This meets a core need that we all have to live healthy and fulfilled lives; preventing social exclusion into adulthood.
