Sanctuary 2015 was attended by our largest group to date. 80 young people, children and leaders spent three days together at our ninth annual residential, which is based loosely on the principle of spiritual monastic retreat.
I do not act in anger or hold grudges;
I am ‘real’ and do not lie to myself, to God or others;
I never turn away from someone who needs my love;
I speak the truth with heart and tongue.The Sanctuary Statement 2015
In one sense, it’s good, old-fashioned youth work with wide games, walking and talking, camp fires and singing, simple food and wet tents (!); with the vital element of time and space to reflect on what is important to us as people of faith. Although some of us may not be entirely sure how we feel about God, Sanctuary offers the opportunity to process our thoughts in a safe and caring community.
“As the leader of Xstream, it is a privilege and wonder to be part of this community of young people who care for one another and allow us to share their life journey.”
Sharon De Villiers
Xstream meets every Friday at e:merge Bradford.
