Over the past couple of years, e:merge has provided an internship programme. Young people from our communities would take a year of their time to work with us, gain experience and consider their future. It has been a huge privilege to see young people grow and thrive with responsibility and opportunity.
This September, we took the next step and decided to offer three apprentice roles within our work and we are excited that three great young adults are progressing well in these roles. As part of the apprenticeship, they each have a timetable of youth work to deliver, space for individual support from our staff team and each other, and time to work towards a formal youth work qualification.

Kieron lives in Bierley and is part of our Sports Team. He loves rugby and coaches for Dudley Hill in his spare time and is growing his skills with us in PE teaching, working in community settings and in our alternative education provision.

Vicky lives in Holme Wood and is part of our community youth work team. A significant part if her role us working in our Undercliffe/BD3 Hub running drop-in sessions and girls groups. Vicky loves dancing and use her dance skills in some after school clubs for e:merge and volunteering for a youth project in Holme Wood.

Jack is from East Bowling and has had a long term connection with e:merge growing up and his family are involved in our West Bowling work too! He is now part of our community youth work team supporting open access youth work in Sutton and Windhill as well as being part of the team leading our alternative education provision.
